Care Comes First

Dr. Leopoldo Formoso-Murias is an experienced and empathetic internal medicine physician who prides himself on delivering high quality personalized care to his patients. Originally from Havana, Cuba, Leopoldo moved to Miami, Florida when he was a young child and has spent his life building a relationship with the community. He received his Doctorate in Medicine from Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra in 1982 and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Saint Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, New York in 1986, which was then affiliated with the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Formoso-Murias has been happily married for more than 35 years, with three children and two grandchildren.

Dr. Formoso-Murias lent his extensive expertise through working with privileges in many hospitals in the South Florida area including Kendall Regional Medical Center, South Miami Hospital, Baptist Hospital, Mercy Hospital, Larkin Hospital and Cedar Medical Center (affiliated with the University of Miami Hospital). For example, Dr. Formoso-Murias consulted for medical, internal medicine and critical care departments as well as served as a member of the educational, pharmaceutical and ethical committees in some of the aforementioned hospitals and HMO clinics. Dr. Formoso-Murias' diverse work experience provided him with a strong foundation for his full-time private practice, serving as the medical director.

Dr. Formoso-Murias has been practicing medicine in Miami, Florida for more than 30 years and focuses on preventative adult and geriatric medicine. Dr. Formoso-Murias and his staff serve their patients beyond just physical care through their involvement in the practice's own Activity Center. The Activity Center concentrates on educating patients, promoting independent activity, fostering a sense of community and making lasting friendships. Occupational therapy is also provided, as well as personal enrichment activities such as flower arrangements, painting and dance classes. Additionally, the activity center hosts educational courses on chronic illnesses, such as diabetes and hypertension, and how patients can manage these conditions safely and effectively to ensure high quality of life.
